BBC football guru Garth Crooks thinks Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk deserves the Football Correspondents’ Player of the Year award over Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian, who has been a key player in the team’s attacking line this season, received 48 per cent of the vote for the award. (FWA) by defeating Kevin De Bruyne and Declan Rice, who finished second and third, respectively.

However, Crooks’ view, however, believes that on the other side of the pitch, Van Dijk is the driving force behind the team’s success and should be more rewarding.

Crooks told the BBC.

“I often disagree with the selection of the Football Correspondents’ Association being regarded UFABET. But I’m a bit puzzled by their decision to award Mohamed Salah the Player of the Year award.”

“The Liverpool forward is a superstar – no doubt. And he’s had an impressive season to score goals. However, Liverpool’s best player. In my view is Virgil van Dijk. He deserves this award. Regulars will not be surprise by my choice as the Liverpool defender is in my squad every week.

“That’s because Van Dijk is without a doubt the best defender in the world. But he didn’t attract the attention like Salah. Because the Egyptian scored goals.”

“I admire his goals more than anyone. My team always has them. However, this year the Association of Journalists picked him as the winner, which is incorrect.”

“A quarterback rarely gets this prestigious award. The last time a Liverpool defender won the award was with Emlyn Hughes. He’s not a great defender but an incredible opponent. Even so, he is not on the same level as Van Dijk.”

Another Liverpool great player that has been overlooked by the Press Association is Alan Hansen. Who is the closest I’ve seen to the Holland captain in terms of speed. potential and vision”

“Salah has the ability to win the Champions League for Liverpool. But he has to have Van Dijk in the squad.”
